Imagined creatures, flowing landscapes and recurring motifs guide the soul through a world between dreams and reality.
BOOK & SCROLL
The project unfolds through bound pages, individual illustrations and a scroll format, exploring different rhythms of reading and viewing.
Inspired by the portable form of Bimo scriptures, the book combines pages of different lengths with a structure that can be rolled and unfolded. Each gesture reveals another part of the journey.

INSPIRATION
The project began with an interest in Yi soul-calling traditions and the sense of inner emptiness explored in The Burnout Society. I approached the soul’s return as a way of reflecting on anxiety, belonging and reconnection.
Visual research into Bimo scriptures and Han-dynasty T-shaped silk paintings informed the imagery and character development.

PROCESS & MATERIALS
The illustrations were painted by hand using gouache and watercolour, then printed on handmade paper. Soft washes, layered colours and paper textures shape the atmosphere of
the story.
Character sketches, painting studies and binding experiments developed together, connecting the visual world with the physical experience of the book.
